About Us
Our Story
Around 2004 my brother and I, who owned Brotherhood Painting, gave an eccentric, young stranger a ride to Mt. Ashland to go snowboarding. He unloaded 70% of his life story on that short trip. Among his many entreprenueral endeavors had been an ice cream truck, a Beatles themed sandwich shop and . . . you guessed it . . . a Christmas Lights service. That planted a seed that took 10 years to sprout. In 2014, when we expanded the company to have employees that we needed a way to keep our guys busy during the winter. So that year we started hanging Christmas lights in Medford and the Rogue Valley. Back then we were called Christmas Lights by Brotherhood Painting. It turns out Christmas Lights installation was not only a great way to keep our staff going all year; it was also a fun, creative business that spreads joy. So we’ve stuck with it all these years, learning and improving as we go.

With the 2022 sale of Brotherhood Painting,

OUR TEAM
Clay Bustin - Head Elf
I moved to the Rogue Valley in 2002. This is my family – my wonderful wife, Danelle, and our 5 sons – from oldest to youngest – Phoenix, Jude, Ember, Lelyn and Westley. We live a sweet little off-grid life on a 365 acre nature preserve. We homeschool our boys, grow (some of) our own food and live a fulfilling and simple life.
I work on Mary & Brite’s year-round, in the off season improving our service, internal systems and staff and customer experience. Mary & Brite’s has provided our family with a wonderful, relatively seasonal life balance. My focus is always on making the company better to work with and better to work for, and I thoroughly enjoy it.
Our Secret
to Delivering so many 5 star Customer Experiences?
1. Our Installers are Business Owners
1. Our Installers are Business Owners
1. Our Installers are Business Owners
Rather than hiring seasonal laborers on craigslist, we hire and train the Rogue Valley's top rated small business owners for our Christmas Lights crews in their slow season. These are responsible owner/operators of painting companies, pressure washing, landscaping companies, etc. These are people who know how to treat customers and deliver an exceptional service. This model has proven to create exceptional customer service and quality workmanship.
2. Christmas Lights is All We Do
Since the sale of Brotherhood Painting, we have put all of our efforts into Christmas Lights. That means we are able to spend months every year working "on" the business, not working "in" the business. This is such a primary struggle for most companies; there's just no time to stop and improve because you're putting out fires and handling urgent tasks all day. What does this mean for you? It means you're dealing with a business that has put hundreds of hours per year into carefully crafting the customer experience, recruiting the best people and finding the best products for our customers. Christmas lights isn't just something we add on and scrape together at the end of the year. It's our specialty.
